Dear friend Mr. Pale Face

Alone in a crowd, alone in a crowd. My friend Mr. Pale Face, alone
in the
c
ro
wd.

I bid you adieu, my friend. I wish I could stand alongside. But I must move on and you must remain, so
in you I will confide.

You are alone and I alone too and this is how we will reside.

an eye as empty

A bright ember as
horse face in this       fireside fantasy.

Shaped like that of   blue-eyed pony near Zion        that I thought I'd return to  (and didn't), but instead of             icy blue
there's    an eye as empty     as  the one of rose-winged grosbeak
that    flew into Sarah's window.

Deep black,  smashed        like the round glassy     eye   of bluegill which                                        was killed (with a hefty stick) when Oliver's hook         caught in it's gills.                                                                                                                                                                 And as the ember falls to ash, remembrance                            crumbles                   also.

Time and time

We look back at the old story and
try to figure it all out.

The veil is lifted as I sleep,
the veil then re-applied.

Remember when you told me that your word is "love"?

Well, mine is "time".

Song for an ending night

up so early
it's not yet light, the
moon chases me home tonight.
full-faced and free, a
mighty blameless bright of greater height than
any kite flown right.

I wish to wait and see, to
breathe easy and have let
the sun rise up to meet me, but
there are already plans for today. perhaps
tonight I'll be free.
